How to obtain a translation quote
Since 1997, I have never delivered a translation late and nearly all of my translations are delivered prior to the deadline.

When requesting a quote, please send the entire text to be translated and any relevant reference materials or prior translations. This will prevent misunderstandings and will ensure the accuracy of the quote and the quoted delivery date. (see also: instructions below).

The translation cost will depend on the length and the difficulty of the text, the amount of formatting involved and the stated deadline.

Projects can be quoted on:

  • a per source-language word basis

  • a target-language word basis

  • a standardized line basis (55 characters incl. spaces)

  • a per-project basis (all inclusive)

  •  an hourly basis (i.e. for proofreading, editing)

When requesting a quote: Please indicate how (see above list) and in which currency: U.S. dollars (USD) or euros (EUR) you would like the quote expressed. Please understand that in some cases, the type of project will pre-determine the way the quote is formulated (editing and proofreading is charged at an hourly rate) and that I reserve the right to provide quotes in U.S. dollars only.

If you have a firm deadline, please provide the exact deadline (date & time & time zone). This helps in scheduling and ensures that you will receive the translation on time. If you do not have a firm deadline, but would like the translation delivered within a certain timeframe, please include this information.

When I receive your inquiry, I will take a careful look at the text to be translated and your requirements. Quotes are usually prepared and sent out on the day the request has been received.  As no jobs are subcontracted out, at times, it may take me several hours to reply to your inquiry. If your inquiry is very urgent, please mark it as such or phone me!

Prior to starting a  project, all project, delivery and payment details will be confirmed by email and I will require (by email or in writing) your full contact info and acceptance of all terms stated in the emails.

For some projects and new clients, advance payment or a deposit may be required. A deposit invoice stating all project and payment details will be issued for this purpose.
