I have never delivered a translation late.
Nearly all of my translations are delivered prior to the agreed upon deadline. This is not rocket science. I am good at scheduling, do not overbook and communicate with my clients who keep me posted with regard to their deadline needs and any flexibility.
When requesting a quote:
Please send the entire text to be translated (or other service) and any relevant reference materials, prior translations and other requirements (style guides, terminology lists etc). This will prevent misunderstandings and will ensure the accuracy of the quote and the quoted delivery date.
The cost will depend on the amount of time it will take me to complete your project.
The variables include the length and the difficulty of the text, the amount of formatting involved and the presence of graphics or other items that also require translation. Non-editable formats (pdf, jpg files) will take longer (than an editable format, e.g. .docx file) as they need to be processed via OCR. A rush deadline or an accompanying sworn statement will usually incur additional charges.
Translation projects can be quoted on:
For German to English translation projects, I usually quote an all-in project price in USD.
All other project types (editing, proofreading, consulting, research) are quoted and charged at an hourly rate.
If you have a firm deadline (or a flexible timeframe), please let me know and keep me updated if there are any changes.
When I receive your inquiry, I will take a careful look at the text and all of your requirements. I normally prepare and send quotes with 24 hours following receipt of your quote request.
Prior to starting a project, all project, delivery and payment details will be confirmed by email and I will require your full contact info and acceptance of all terms stated in the emails.
For new clients, advance payment will usually be required.
An Order Confirmation / Payment Request or Deposit Request stating all project and payment details will be issued.
Carefully review this document to ensure that it accurately reflects your project requirements.
